type: comm/bbs
syntax: msgidx [config/K] [directory/K]
MSGidx makes up an indexfile (did you guess it from the name?) of any
Foozle-style Message-Echo. THAT MEANS:
You have to have a config-file named MSGIDX.CFG - or you have to give
another name when calling MSGidx.
The config file consists of complete pathes to all echo-directories you
want to process.
(Example: msgidx.cfg:
mail:echo/amiga.ger
mail:echo/amihard.ger
etc.
)
You can as well give a single directory to process. In this case _only_
this directory is being processed.
MSGidx is needed for MSGread - a standard MSG-Reader for any BBS that uses
StdIO. It speeds up access to the messages - the indeces are used to build
the menus.
You can include MSGidx in your tossing procedure - well... if you don't
need your Amiga for some time. It has to open each message file... sorry -
it's Foozle's fault :-)
Anyway ... MSGread allows your BBS-users to read (and reply) echomail in
your Foozle-directories.
Change from V1.0 to V1.1: simply improved the sorting...
well... made it working!
